621 Le balcon au coin: 10x15cm: ink and watercolour on archival paper

I love these flowered balconies and the slanted, slated rooftops. I never noticed the flowers in Paris for the first year I lived here. It was cold and grey and I could never understand what direction I was walking because of the white sky.

Les Deux Magots is a classic literary cafe in Paris. It’s in a chic part of town, Saint Germain des Près. If you want to see who’s who, it’s one of the places to go. Right now it’s closed because of the way the government has decided to deal with the big viral problem and the curfew. Normally the tables are outside, packed with every nationality. Whoever thought that cafe’s in Paris would be extinct. Even temporarily.

421 un citron et demie: an illustration a day from Paris, France

421 un citron et demie : 10x15cm : ink and watercolor on archival paper

This lemon reminds me of the hundreds of food paintings I did of Italian cuisine. I sold every last one of from this series. Often they sold before I could finish them. The cut lemon was a favorite subject.
