Professional artist since 1990
spraying paint in atelier

Angie Brooksby is a contemporary American artist.
Currently she lives on the French Riviera where she owns the Nouvelle Galerie Massillon. She lived in Florence, Italy for over 2 decades and in Paris for 14 years.
Her career is packed with international exhibitions and prizes. Her collectors include Nobel prize scientists, senators, and other VIPs. Her paintings are in private collections worldwide.
She completed her formal studies in figurative sculpture with John Shahn at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA). then learned oil painting en plein air in the Tuscan countryside.
A critic recently said:
" The artist demonstrates mastery of mixed media combined with a highly personal approach to colour. Her use of colour is mature and rich, and not decorative; the pictorial material generates visual depth.
The handling of space is effective too, with dynamic, well-balanced compositions.
One of the most successful aspects of Brooksby-Arcangioli's work is her ability to convey visual sensuality through colour itself. The paint, applied either thickly or in translucent layers, invites an almost tactile experience, making the works engaging at different viewing distances. The inclusion of gold and silver leaf not only gives a precious and decorative appearance, but also introduces iridescent light reflections that vary with natural or artificial light, making the experience of the work dynamic and alive. There is also a refined awareness of composition; the distribution of colour masses across the surface reveals an underlying structure that is solid yet never random."
Brooksby creates paintings to make you feel good. Because she likes to feel good too. WHer canvases seem to bring light in your home and open space where they hang. She incorporates gold leaf and powder to create texture and reflections. Professionally active since 1990, her exploration of classical techniques, chiaroscuro, graphic design, gilding, combined with in depth studies of color theory lead her to the formula for paintings that open space and bring light in your room. 40 years of painting. She likes XXL formats in order to incorporate the gestures of healing energy practices that she does. Often she plays her gongs in her atelier and she incorporates corporal gestures from Yoga, Tai Chi or Qi Gong directly on the canvas.
